Robot to Accelerate Cancer Research Process

Research regarding cancer conducted by the Australian scientists at the Lowy Cancer Research Centre, University of New South Wales is aimed at bringing some major developments in the field of childhood cancer research.

Researchers have designed a robot, the first of its kind, which would help them in reducing the time spent in laboratories.

The robot functions in a very unique way and reduces the time required for cancer research. The robot can now effectively complete month long tasks in a few weeks. Head of the Leukaemia Biology Program at the University of New South Wales and Assistant Professor Richard Lock informed that the robot will start work this week. Users can find this revolutionary robot, the first to be used in Australia, completely online.

The machine has been designed to find a cure for the dreaded disease called acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL). The purpose of this robot is to inject a cancer cell and a corresponding drug that cures the cancer present in the cancer cells together into a vial and to check whether the potential drug is working effectively. The robot helps to accelerate the research process and thus can act as a vital tool in making fast discoveries about the possible cures for ALL.
