FedEx to Transport US Robots for FIRST Robotics Competition

During the annual FIRST National Robot Ship Day, FedEx will offer support to the US robotics teams who are competing in the 2011 FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) by covering the transportation cost for more than 1,000 robots.

FedEx supports this international event by volunteering to cover shipping costs for all the US teams.

More than 50,000 high-school students throughout the world will participate in this year's FIRST Robotics Competition. FedEx with its network will transport 227 tons of US robots and crates in total. The students who avail the free shipments can take advantage of a host of other features such as computers in delivery vehicles, tracking the status of the packages, and use of wireless technology for shipping.

FedEx began helping the students with the transportation from January 8, 2011 by delivering the parts needed for building the robots. More than 50,000 high-school students will compete in the 2011 FIRST Robotics Competition this season. On the FIRST National Robot Ship Day, all the teams can transport their robotic creations through FedEX shipment until the Regional Competitions take place in March and April.
