UC Irvine Medical Center to Use SpineAssist for Performing Robotic Surgeries

The University of California, Irvine Medical Center has bought SpineAssist, a surgical robotic system from Mazor Robotics, a company that manufactures surgical robots.

Surgeons can perform minimally invasive and complicated spine surgeries with great accuracy and all safety conditions in place.

The UC Irvine Medical Center is renowned for conducting robotic procedures under various medical situations. This surgical robotic system from Mazor Robotics is designed to help the surgeon to perform the surgery manually with the robotic arm’s assistance.

SpineAssist has been scientifically tested to increase the accuracy of spinal implants and reduce the neurological deficit rate and misplaced screws. Surgeries performed using the SpineAssist results in fewer complications and revisions for patients. The minimally invasive technique may result in faster recovery and lesser pain and scars. Moreover, this procedure contributes to decreased radiation exposure for the patient, surgeon and the entire OR team.
