Several US retailers involved in online selling of products are utilizing the advanced robotic warehousing technology for delivering parcels.
Robotic Warehouse
Boston-based company, Kiva Systems is drastically changing the process of supplying orders using its robots. The clients of Kiva systems include drugstore.com and stationery manufacturer, Staples.
The company offers solutions that make the entire process automated from making an online transaction to securing the product in the hands of the delivery agency. The company has robotic sleds that are programmed using the software to perform the leg-work instead of people doing that job. It is also used for identifying and bringing a product to a particular location before it is actually sent to be packed and shipped.
Kiva Systems CEO and founder, Mick Mountz stated that this system will save around 60-70% of an operator's effort to go around the warehouse. Instead, they can stand at one place and the products will reach them. As a result, the workers will increase their performance by two to four times the number of orders, per hour.
