Robotdalen, a Swedish Robotics initiative, has invited commercially viable robotic solutions from researches, entrepreneurs and inventors, to participate in a global contest for winning the Robotdalen Innovation Award.
The winning participants will be given an opportunity to implement their innovative solutions with support from Robotdalen. The last date for submitting the entries has been decided as 31st of October.
The award is meant to felicitate innovative concepts or solutions that have the right ingredients for commercial success. The three robotic categories, to which the entries should belong to, are Industrial robotics, field robotics and health care solutions for the elderly. The Robotdalen Innovation Award comes in place of the Robotdalen Scientific Award, which was originally instituted to hunt for novel methods in robotics and automation. The award is now open to entries from investors and entrepreneurs in addition to entries from young researchers across the globe. The winning entry will receive a cash prize of € 6000 and an additional € 6000 for developing the solution with support from Robotdalen. The runner up entry would receive a cash prize of € 4000 plus another € 4000 for developing the concept. The second runner up would be awarded € 1000. The results of the contest will be announced at The Robotics Innovation Challenge, a global event organised by Robotdalen that is scheduled to be held on 9th February 2012.
