Wesley Randall Professor at the Auburn University and his research team are developing an unmanned aircraft for performing various activities like guarding the border, moving goods between various cities, acting as a security force for airborne traffic etc.
Though they are predominantly used by defense for various undercover operations and also for intimidating rival aircrafts, soon they will be utilized to perform domestic operations. Randall and his team members are researching to find out the exact altitude at which the robotic aircraft should fly. They are also analyzing its route, method of receiving instructions from control towers, mode of training of the remotely operated aircraft’s pilots and other related vital parameters.
Peter Singer, author of the latest book "Wired for War," has assumed that in another few decades, partnering between humans and unmanned systems will happen.
According to Randall the unmanned aircraft is highly compact, consumes less fuel and does not release any harmful substance.
