Harwin would be showcasing its latest products at the AUVSI Unmanned Systems North America, which is to be held in Washington from 16th to 18th of August. The company has an established track record of supplying highly reliable connectors for use in unmanned systems.
NASA has used Harwin products in the Robonaut programme and the Warwick Mobile Robot, the award winning rescue robot.
The vice president of sales and marketing at Harwin, Bill Neukomm, noted that the engineers who design unmanned systems encounter a number of challenges during the design phase such as maintaining the integrity of the systems under vibration, shock and other extreme conditions. Their aim is to provide optimum performance and at the same time reduce cost and size of the systems. Neukomm claimed that Harwin Datamate connector ranges were extremely reliable and are high-performance oriented 2 mm pitch connector systems. He added that these connectors would be able to withstand extreme conditions such as 40G bump, 100G shock and 10Gvibration as well. He said that they have recently added a horizontal female style to the range of connectors. The Mik-Tek range of connectors has a wide signal and power range and offer a number of coaxial contact combinations within a single compact connector housing, which enhances the flexibility of the design. The Mik-Tek range is apt for use in applications where safety is the priority. Neukomm concluded by saying that their manufacturing units were equipped to produce large and small quantities.
