Hatsune Miku is a completely graphically created vocal and visual character developed by Crypton Future Media in the year 2007. The voice of Hatsune Miku has been used in as many as 100,000 songs and videos created by users.
This visual character has been chosen by Toyota to officially represent the Corolla 2011. Toyota believes that both Corolla and Hatsune have a common attribute, which is, big dreams coming in compact packages. The latest design of Corolla comes with upgraded interiors and exteriors which distinguish it from other vehicles in the compact vehicle segment.
The ToyoTag is a special 2D barcode solution that has been developed for providing smartphones users an easy way to download the app. The ToyoTag functions as a virtual ‘stage’ where the users can witness Hatsune perform with the latest Toyota Corolla by its side. With this app both Corolla consumers and Hatsune fans are treated to witness their favorite star alongside their favorite songstress on an innovative unique stage. Post the completion of the show enthusiastic fans could even take pictures with Hatsune Miku. Metaio has come up with sophisticated image recognition technology that allows recognition and tracking of any image and overlaying it on an interactive three-dimensional content. In this particular case Metaio has overlaid the images on Hatsune and Toyota Corolla. The motor sales manager at Toyota expressed his appreciation for the augmented reality technology that Metaio provided for marketing the new Corolla 2011. Toyota has utilized the free mobile application, junaio plugin, from Metaio for providing the necessary content for their app and download into existing Androids or iOS apps. Lisa Murphy from Toyota claimed that junaio provided a convenient platform for integrating advanced AR functionalities into the existing mobile apps.
