Dr Samadi Creates Awareness on Advanced Robotic Technique for Treating Prostate Cancer

Dr.David Samadi who is the Chief of Robotics and Minimally Invasive Surgery and the Vice Chairman of the Department of Urology at the Mount Sinai Medical Centre has recommended that African American men and men who have a family history of prostate cancer should undergo screening at the age of 40.

He also adds that men who are older than 50 years should undergo PSA screening every year. Prostate cancer is the one of the main reason for deaths in men in the US. The screening tests that are currently used do not have the ability to stage the cancer accurately. Dr. Samadi believes that early testing and screening of prostate cancer can help in its treatment to a large extent.

Dr. Samadi has performed the robotic prostatectomy on more than 3,500 patients and has a success rate of 97%. According to Dr. Samadi, the surgery which uses a customised surgical technique is highly effective in eliminating cancer. The Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique uses the da Vinci Surgical System and eliminates the prostate cancer with very less trauma to the healthy tissues and nerves that are around the affected area. Patients who go through this surgery have their cancer cured and their sexual potency and urinary continence retained.
