The WateReuse Association has presented Nalco with the WateReuse Equipment/Manufacturer Award for the year 2011 for its 3D TRASAR project. This award will be presented at the WateReuse Symposium which is to be held at Phoenix, Arizona.
The award is given to an outstanding project or a manufacturer for making valuable contribution in the field of water recycling and reuse. The executive director of WateReuse mentioned that Nalco has made significant contribution for water recycling and reuse around the world through their innovative projects such as the 3D TRASAR for cooling water. This project is currently functioning in over 18,000 customer locations across the world and has contributed in saving as much as 346 billion gallons of water since its inception.
Cooling systems typically consume large amounts of water for their functioning and for efficient cooling require systems for bacteria and corrosion control. The 3D TRASAR automation technology provides a system for the control of water usage and also for monitoring the condition of water. This system incorporates a number of sophisticated sensors that monitor and provide the appropriate treatment to water when the need arises. With the help of the 3D TRASAR technology the efficiency of cooling towers has improved and they make use of less fresh water, called makeup water, so that the overall water consumption is reduced. Nalco is working on extending the application of the 3DTRASAR technology to boilers and systems that work on reverse osmosis as well. Apart from the 3D TRASAR system, Nalco provides a number of solutions for water treatment for production processes. Such solutions help in environmental conservation and also benefit the customers with good return on investment.
