GeckoSystems Negotiates with Chinese Wheelchair Manufacturer for Marketing Collision-Proof Wheelchair

GeckoSystems International, a developer of robotic systems is negotiating with a Chinese wheelchair manufacturer to form a joint venture for manufacturing and marketing its recently developed collision-proof wheelchair technology all over the world.

As reported by the 2010 United States Census data, there are 3.3 million people, aged 15 or above, who use wheelchairs. Power-assisted wheelchairs are great help to the disabled, however, severe spasticity or trembling, which is connected with spinal cord or brain injury, cerebral palsy, stroke, Parkinson's disease or multiple sclerosis and cognitive or visual limitations make them difficult for many wheelchair users.

The prototype, collision-proof chair from GeckoSystems can be smoothly navigated in a grocery store and in a mall. This wheelchair keeps users away from both stationary and moving obstacles without unexpected movements that can cause injury or pain to them. GeckoSystems is hoping that wheelchair users will soon get access to its new technology, which improves both the mobility and safety of the user.

The first product to be manufactured and marketed by the Chinese Joint Venture will be an improved design suitable for AI software control developed in accordance with the design criteria of GeckoSystems. The proprietary software of GeckoSystems including the GeckoImager has the capacity to combine multiple stationary sensors to allow a level of independence and is commonly referred to as fully autonomous navigation. The company uses sensor fusion that makes use of light machine vision. The separated sensor data provides GeckoNav, automated, self-navigation artificial intelligence (AI) software, with timely and adequate data to achieve actionable situation awareness as well as provides a safe level of liberty that is entirely collision proof.

The foreseen Chinese joint venture will offer GeckoSystems a competitive edge when it becomes part of the commercial markets such as security, government and healthcare applications.
