Cinterion together with its partners Inside M2M and MC Technologies (MCT) have successfully crossed the 100,000 milestone for Konica Minolta Multifunctional office machines, which are connected through the M2M communication network for remote monitoring.
The Java module from Cinterion was used to develop a secure wireless data communication network and operate the application software, which manages the maintenance of enterprise-grade office machines that are located at any part of the world.
By implementing the communication, Konica Minolta will be able to monitor printers, copiers, fax machines and scanners and also perform maintenance and diagnostics remotely. The system will also enable Konica to track the usage patterns of these machines and also identify shortages in supply proactively. The embedded Java client developed by Inside M2M collects machine data via the MCT terminal and the Cinterion module, which communicates the data securely over the wireless network to reach a backend server dedicated for this purpose. The system administrators will be able to log on to the network from any computer or a smart phone for monitoring and receiving updates. In case of a breakdown they will be able to identify the issue and receive history data through an email. Based on the received data, they will be able to diagnose and send corrective maintenance commands through SMS.
