Abacus Health Solutions Provides Remote Blood Pressure Monitoring Program for Stamford Hospital

Stamford Hospital inaugurates a novel remote blood pressure monitoring program for its employees and their families. This program aims at ensuring good health for its employees and timely detection of risk factors related to the heart.

To encourage participation in the program employees are provided cash incentives for self-monitoring of blood pressure. Another aspect addressed by the program is to tackle one of the leading medical expense categories at the hospital.

The regional communications director of the American Heart Association reiterated the importance of regular monitoring of cardiovascular parameters such as blood pressure. The monitoring system from Abacus facilitates home-based monitoring of blood pressure and the easy gathering and sharing of the readings through the blood pressure monitoring device, which is synchronised with the HealthVault Personal Health Record from Microsoft. The recorded readings are communicated to the clinical team and they are able to arrive upon optimal treatment decisions for the patient. Feedback is provided via Good Health Gateway website, which is managed by Abacus Health Solutions. Apart from this program Stamford is offering a ‘Wellness U’ program for getting the employees involved in educational tools and activities. The eBlood Pressure Program from Abacus was funded by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality. This program serves for bringing the use of technology for improving health and this monitoring program will be implemented by taking help from the network of doctors and local employers at the hospital.
