Fire Scout from Northrop Grumman Communicates Sensor Data to MH-60 Helicopter Cockpit

During a joint demonstration by the Northrop Grumman and the US Navy, the Fire Scout was successful in communicating the sensor data to the cockpit of the MH-60 helicopter. This is the first time the Northrop Grumman Group has demonstrated the First-Unmanned Intel Sharing.

Fire Scout

The demonstration was conducted at the Patuxent River Naval Air Station on 25 October. The ability of the Fire Scout in communicating the sensor data will be useful for the field commanders in taking informed decisions during military operations.

So far the intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions conducted by the Navy with the help of the Fire Scout were being sent to the host ship. The host ship will perform further dissemination of the data. The Intel-Sharing demonstration was viewed by the crew members of the U.S Coast Guard as well. The enhancement to the Fire Scout’s communication system will enable communication of the sensor data to multiple units without any time delay. The Fire Scout comes with a modular architecture that comprises a variety of electro-optical, infrared and communication payloads. These payloads are useful in providing both ground and ship-based situational awareness and accurate target support for the commanders. The system is able to operate all the air-capable ships that undertake littoral missions like drug interaction, anti-piracy operations, port security etc.
