Mantaro Introduces MantaroBot to TelePresence Robot Product Line

Mantaro has introduced the MantaroBot TeleMe robot to its TelePresence Robot product line up. The TeleMe has been designed to support Apple iPad2, Apple iPhone 4/4S and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 for use as the head of the telepresence robot.

Just as the original MantaroBot is controlled through a plug-in mechanism operated by Skype, the TeleMe is also controlled by the user using Skype. The user is able to move around and interact with people just as he would do if present physically. The ‘head’ of the TeleMe robot can be tilted up or down to suit the viewing of the user. Mantaro will be extending the robot for use with other tablets and personal communication devices. The current trend in the market is of tablets and smartphones; therefore,

TeleMe will be an extremely useful addition to the application list of these devices for personal and home use. Video teleconferencing system is enhanced with increased mobility and higher interaction levels with the TeleMe. The software for controlling the robot is loaded onto the PC through which the speed and direction of instructions are communicated through the Internet and Wi-Fi. The TeleMe is capable of providing a tilt of 90 ° so that the tablet’s camera can be conveniently positioned for better interaction while driving. The user interface is IR enabled for obstacle detection and improved communication link strength. TeleMe is light and portable and hence opens up telepresence applications to venues that were never visited before. Mantaro intends to showcase the TeleMe robot at the Robotic Zone at CES 2012, which will be held in Las Vegas during February 2012.
