Students’ Robots Compete in Annual Showdown

During the class final, completion of a robotic competition at Stanford University, several cheering spectators including 60 students gathered around the stage for a debate on their robotic creations, marking the end of their ‘Introduction to Mechatronics’ course.

The competition serves as a platform for mechanical engineering students to pursue their passion in Mechatronics.

Each year, a new game is conducted by Kenny and his associates for an effective real-time robotic assessment. The encounter in Republican presidential primary inspires this year's game titled ‘$uper PAC Monday.’ In this game, each robot was equipped with poker chips, and then with the help of autonomous machines the chips should be dumped into five bins in just two minutes. Each robot had exceptional design and strategy, where the robotic arms dispensed three tokens simultaneously into three separate bins. The bins were filled as soon as possible by using robots equipped with sensors and infrared beacons.

At the Peterson Engineering Laboratory, the robots were introduced and the crowd cheered as they appeared and started operating. Student on-lookers were driven by the robotic capabilities and were even interested in enrolling for the mechatronics course.

After 12 rounds of eliminations with robotic names including Bit Romney and Tron Paul, the competition took place intensely between Michelle Botman and Team Robama. Botman was declared as the winner. The crowd cheered when the winning team celebrated and posed for photos.
