After the four-day Robotics World championship competition held at St. Louis, Missouri, two RoboDawgs teams (288 and 244) returned home to Michigan setting a new record, which is higher than any other RoboDawg team since 2004.
Grandville RoboDawgs
A 4:4:1 record was achieved by Team 288, winning the 22nd place of Curie Division, whereas Team 244 completed eight out of nine qualification matches, winning the sixth place among Curie Division competitors, heading on to playoff rounds. Being qualified in two straight quarterfinals matches, the RoboDawgs moved to the semifinals.
The Grandville RoboDawgs include FRC teams such as RoboDawgs (team 288), More RoboDawgs (216), and RoboDawgs 3D (244). At Waterloo, Ontario, RoboDawgs 3D competed in the finals and won the runner-up title. During the quarterfinals, it was honored with a winner’s banner.
During the last two weeks of March, the RoboDawgs won three judges awards. Team 216 achieved the Judges Award for RoboDawgs in recognition for its unique robotics program that included construction of autonomous boats and various robots in addition to its participation in competitions like VEX and FRC.
RoboDawg teams also received two awards in Troy. The RoboDawgs won the cooperatition award recognizing the highest level of Coopertition. The RoboDawgs 3D won the Xerox Creativity Award that honors creative design, methodology and successful completion through a unique strategy of play. It also considers the attributes of machine or development process. This award was presented to RoboDawgs 3D for its unique, efficient and creative adaptation of a lacrosse racquet for shooting baskets.
The Grandville High School RoboDawgs team also scored an overall 3.7 grade point average in classroom.
