Lockheed to Develop Robotic Aircraft for the US Navy

Lockheed Martin has announced that it has received a contract worth $45.8 million from the US Navy to develop K-Max Aircraft System, a robotic aircraft, ideal for transporting alliance defense crew to the battlegrounds of Afghanistan.

In a single flight, the robotic aircraft can supply bulk quantities of cargo to several locations in contrast to other Rotorcrafts. It can hold up to 6000 pounds of weight.

Daniel Spoor, Vice President of Aviation System of Business, has stated that the unmanned aircraft can even lift a car and supply it to a place located several hundred miles away by putting it within 30 feet precision.

If the robotic aircraft successfully accomplishes the mission, the company believes that the requirement for such aircrafts would create more job opportunities in the future.
