Bonaire Robotics Team Prepares for Super-Regional FIRST Lego League

Bonaire Elementary School students are preparing for the FIRST Lego League competition. They have programmed robots to perform tasks related to the medical field.

Bonaire Middle School Robotics Team Prepares for Super-Regional

The Bonaire robotics team participated at the regional tournament held in Columbus, Georgia, where the team won the tournament’s overall competition.

Kenny Higginbotham, an 8th grader, captains the robotics team. His interest in robotics began just a year ago. The Bonaire robotics team won the top spot in the regional LEGO league competition. The competition considers the design and the programming of the robot to perform medically related tasks, as well as the teamwork and the presentation aspects.

As part of its mission, the robotic team aims to get students interested in engineering at a young age. The Bonaire robotics team is Houston County’s only FIRST LEGO league team.

FIRST Lego League’s Super-Regional competition is scheduled to be held at the Aviation museum on January 8, 2011.
