Haliburton International Foods to Install Adept Packaging Automation Cell

Haliburton International Foods has declared that it is the primary US food company to include Adept Technology’s Adept Packaging Automation Cell (PAC). The new automation cell is based on vision-guided technology for accomplishing packaging up to a speed of 150 ppm.

Ian Schenkel, President and CEO of Haliburton, has stated that the nature of their business needed them to adopt a cost-efficient approach and also required them to be fast and adaptable to cope with the changing requirements of their clients. He mentioned that by means of innovative vision-guided robotic technology, Adept has designed a low-cost solution that offers reliability and productivity of conventional packaging equipment with the adroitness and adaptability of manual packaging methods.

The delivery of the first two Packaging Automation Cell systems is scheduled to be completed by this month. These systems will be part of the IQF Packaging Automation Project, which is expected to be concluded in the first quarter of this year. One PAC system will be included on each of the two recently added IQF Vertical-Form-Fill-Seal (VFFS) packaging lines, which were installed in the final quarter of last year. The packaging system will perform case packing operations at the rate of 140 bags per minute and it can handle several food products like rice, pastas, IQF vegetables and frozen fruits.
