AHS’ Engineering Academy Enables Students to Develop Robotic Marine Vehicles

Alisal High School’s Engineering Academy, an educational program included in the school’s syllabus, is training students on building and testing robotic marine vehicles.

The Academy trains students to participate in the upcoming local college contests. It also focuses on students to obtain internships in marine biology and mechanics fields.

The Engineering Academy provides all the study materials required for student projects. The academy is sponsored by the California Partnership Academies, a program undertaken by the state Education Department.

Jennifer Westerbeck, Coordinator of the Engineering Academy, has stated that their intention is to offer enhanced opportunities that will train their students to  pursue their future endeavors. She added that currently they are involved in training students to take part in the annual Remote Operated Vehicles contest, which is scheduled to be held in April at the Montery Peninsula College.
