Dr. David B. Samadi, an expert surgeon based in New York City conducts robotic prostatectomy and prostate cancer surgeries. Currently, Dr. Samadi is acting as the Vice Chairman in the Department of Urology at the Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.
A new study claims that physicians who conduct robotic surgeries more than 1,600 times are only considered experienced. The study focused on the robotic surgeries conducted at an alarming rate by inexperienced surgeons at community hospitals. Researchers declared that only surgeons with such profound experience can perform prostate cancer surgeries successfully. Dr. Samadi, based on his years of experience with robotics, has also developed a new surgery technique called SMART (Samadi Modified Advanced Robotic Technique).
Dr. Samadi, with an experience of over 3,200 robotic surgeries, believes that only his practical experience in robotic prostatectomy gives him an edge over other surgeons for higher cure rates and lower complications from prostate surgery. Experienced robotic surgeons will determine how not to injure the delicate nerves that are vital for the proper functioning of sexual and urinary organs. Experience in robotic prostate surgery is required for assessing how much of the malignant tissue has to be removed. Surgeons who fail to detect any cancer cells could lead to the recurrence of prostate cancer.
