Three Robotics Teams from M’Aiken High School Win Regional Competition

Three Tech Challenge robotics teams of M’Aiken High School won the regional event that was held in Cookville, Tenn., on Saturday. G-Force and its partner team took the first place whereas Atomix, another team from M'Aiken scored second and M'Aiken Tech Magic secured the third place.

The G-Force team has qualified for the international Tech Challenge competition that is to be held later this spring. The G-Force has already won the international Tech Challenge with two alliance partners last year. It may be necessary for G-Force to go through a lottery this year.

M'Aiken Tech Magic and Atomix will make it to the international contest at a regional, at S.C. State University in Orangeburg on 5, March, 2011.

All the three squads faced numerous technical challenges throughout the day. Some teams had to deal with parts that did not function properly and had to be repaired. The teams did not anticipate a planning field that did not conform to the configuration.

Initially, all the three teams were focusing on scoring points using their robots, but later they realised that they could secure more points using other aspects of the game.
