Metsäliitto Group to be Provided with Sierra Wireless Routers by Mobile World Communications

Sierra Wireless has announced that Mobile World Communications is to supply Sierra Wireless AirLink Intelligent wireless routers to the Metsäliitto Group, which is an International forest industry group operating in 30 countries.

The Metsäliitto Group have selected the Sierra Wireless AirLink, MP895 rugged in-vehicle router to supply 3G connections for its heavy transport vehicles and machinery, which would help in real time transmission of vital information such as the location and quantity of wood resources. It was chosen based on its reliable operations in highly challenging environments and also on the widespread coverage supplied by the AirLink MP895 router, which supports four HSPA frequency bands for wide compatibility over rural regions in Finland along with networks in Africa, Europe, Asia, Middle East and Australia.

The products from Sierra Wireless offer an advanced configurable platform for rapid and easy implementation along with management and remote configuration of devices. Its ALEOS embedded intelligence along with the AirLink Suite of device management software would give Metsäliitto control of the AirLink routers and automated monitoring, and if needed the capacity to carry out alterations and software updates remotely. This feature is highly valued by Metsäliitto. Matti Onnelainen, who is the CEO of Mobile World Communications states that it was a great pleasure for them to team up with Sierra Wireless and Metsäliitto for providing mobile connectivity for the subcontractors in the field. He further mentioned that this project is a great example of how better quality information and communication capacities could be provided to their customers by using M2M communications.

According to Justin Schmid, the Vice President of Sierra Wireless, it was critically important to be in constant touch with both operators and equipments wherever the location. He also said that they were proud to have been selected by Metsäliitto to provide the critical link. Sierra Wireless AirLink routers and gateways are used all over the world for providing dependable wireless two way data communications for tracking, industrial automation, monitoring systems, mobile resource management, primary and back up business continuity and payment terminals in harsh conditions.
