WANTED Analytics, a provider of real-time business intelligence, announced that advertisements on over 1,800 robotics-based job openings were posted online, during March 2012. Compared to 2010, growth in the hiring demand soared to 80%, and in March 2011, has increased by 44%.
Engineering, healthcare, production occupational, and technical disciplines are currently in need of robotics skills. The growing demand for robotic skills was witnessed more among registered nurses. This is due to the emergence of robotic-assisted procedures in surgical and health processes. In consequent years, hiring increased by 21%. In several educational institutions, online and virtual classrooms are being introduced, giving rise to increase demand for teachers with robot skills. Compared to the previous year, the demand rose to 175% in March, requiring a large number of online job openings for post-secondary teachers.
In addition to skill and proficiency in robotics, potential candidates are expected to be aware of other tools and technologies such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft PowerPoint Structured query language (SQL), Microsoft SQL Server (MS SQL), Autodesk AutoCAD, Oracle Java, Linux, UNIX, Vision systems and Motion control.
By comparing hiring demand and labor supply, a division of WANTED Analytics platform called the Hiring Scale has analyzed local job market requirements. It stated that Detroit has represented two fold increase regarding hiring demand over the past year, with slump in the growth of qualified robotics-based professionals in the local talent pool. Compared to other states in the U.S., employers in Detroit area are expected to progress vigorously to attain robot-inspired jobs.
