Mazor Robotics’ Renaissance System to be Adopted in Geisinger Health System

Mazor Robotics recently declared the procurement of its Renaissance system by Geisinger Health System.

Renaissance is considered as the surgical guidance system for conducting spine procedures. It is a unique robotic technology, which is now available for spine surgery. Geisinger Health System is an integrated health services organization that supports more than 2.6 M residents of 42 counties across northeastern and central Pennsylvania.
Michael Suk, MD, will manage the clinical and academic orthopedic program of the Renaissance system at Geisinger.

According to Geisinger Health System’s chairman, department of orthopedic surgery, Michael Suk, M.D., the Renaissance system has been demonstrated to be effective for patients suffering from scoliosis. This system enables better treatment procedures with rapid recovery, minimal hospital stays, and very low intraoperative radiation exposure. With unique precision and safety features, the renaissance system is a revolutionary substitute of freehand surgery, providing the patients at Geisinger with improved reliability, convenience complementing the high-quality care that is being offered at the hospital during complicated spine procedures.

A fellowship-trained pediatric orthopedic surgeon at Geisinger, Meagan Fernandez, DO, will conduct the Renaissance-based pediatric spine surgeries.

According to the CEO of Mazor Robotics, Ori Hadomi, Geisinger has been providing its well-accepted broad applications of technology. This approach uses features on innovation, quality, and market leadership. Dr. Suk is constructing state-of-the-art spine surgery practice and Mazor’s Renaissance has been offered to promote this health system’s dedicated goals for patient care.
