Spynel-S Mounted on Robbox Unmanned Ground Vehicle Demonstrated at International Paris Air Show

At the 51st edition of the International Paris Air Show this year, the world's largest and oldest aerospace trade show, HGH Infrared Systems' Spynel-S was demonstrated to test its capabilities detecting and tracking air targets.

Marking the second time presenting at an event together, previously at Eurosatory 2014, the Spynel-S was shown at the MBDA booth, a world leader in air defense systems and mounted on Robbox: a multi-sensor, unmanned ground vehicle developed by Sera.

As helicopters, large commercial planes and fighter jets expertly flew overhead in the Flying Display Event, the Spynel-S system; coupled with a PTZ camera proved its unique and impressive performance by capturing the air targets in full, high-definition panoramic images that would then cue the PTZ automatically using a slew-to-cue functionality for positive long-range identification. The Spynel-S successfully demonstrated its 360 degree real-time surveillance with automatic tracking of the air targets. The seamless controlling between the tandem camera systems adds an effective layer of 360 degrees reconnaissance to the technologically advanced and innovative unmanned Robbox that can be deployed without risking human life.

True to the pioneering nature of the exhibition, which in 2011 saw the world debut of the Airbus A380, this multi-faceted solution provides a unique tool for unmanned, persistent reconnaissance of ground and air targets to reduce operator fatigue and enhance responsiveness for perimeter surveillance on the battlefield. Spynel has previously been deployed as a wide-area surveillance option for forward operating base protection in Afghanistan as well as at ports, airports, nuclear facilities and on ships around the world. HGH looks forward to continuing partnering with dedicated companies towards the advancement of defense solutions to protect global security and our service members.
