FIRST Teams to Showcase their Creativity at Renesas DevCon 2015

Renesas Electronics America, a premier supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, is expanding its commitment to educate, motivate and inspire the next generations of engineers.

Today, the company announced its 2016 season sponsorship with FIRST®(For the Inspiration and Recognition of Science & Technology), an international, K-12 not-for-profit organization founded to inspire young people’s interest and participation in science and technology. Highlighted throughout the 2015 Renesas DevCon, Renesas and FIRST will promote the need for safe, exciting, and nurturing environments for students interested in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

“We are excited to announce the participation of FIRST at this year’s DevCon,” said Vin D’Agostino, Vice President, General Purpose Products Unit, Renesas Electronics America. “STEM is a cause that Renesas believes in strongly, and we can’t wait to kick off the 2016 season with FIRST and its FIRST®Robotics Competition teams.”

As part of the multi-level sponsorship established with FIRST in 2012, Renesas employees have played a fundamental role as mentors and volunteers to students participating in the FIRST Robotics Competition, with Renesas sponsoring more than 20 teams across the U.S. and Brazil. Through the Reneas/FIRST relationship, Renesas is helping to support students as they gain real-world experience by providing access to industry-leading components and technology tools along with the “know how” Renesas employees can bring to local teams.

Local FIRST teams will showcase their creativity at Renesas DevCon 2015, October 12-15, Anaheim, Calif. These robotic projects, aided by financial grants from Renesas, are intended for use in the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition season. Location: Pavilion space #62, Renesas DevCon exhibit hall
