Quest Inspar to Accelerate Development of PipeArmor Robots

Quest Inspar, which invented the robotic application of PipeArmor™ pure polyurea linings to rehabilitate pipelines, announced today that it will accelerate development of its next generation of PipeArmor robots after completing a raise of $4.2 million investment from Five Elms Capital.

GE to Expand Artificial Lift Capabilities with Lufkin Industries Acquisition

GE and Lufkin Industries Inc. announced today a joint agreement whereby GE will acquire Lufkin Industries Inc., a leading provider of artificial lift technologies for the oil and gas industry and a manufacturer of industrial gears, for approximately $3.3 billion. Lufkin shareholders will receive $88.50 per share in cash for each of their Lufkin shares.

A recent internal Canadian government audit revealed the country's offshore spill response system is outdated, disorganized, and in need of an overhaul. Despite warnings contained in reports dated back to 2010, little action has been taken. At present, it is estimated 83% of Canada's offshore oil spill response technology is outdated.

Geologists Map New Oil Reserves Using Drones

Geologists have long used seismology on the bottom of the ocean or have been throwing dynamite from snowmobiles when they look for oil. But now researchers at Centre for integrated petroleum research (CIPR), a joint venture between the University of Bergen (UiB) and Uni Research, have found a new preferred method – using drones to map new oil reserves from the air.
