Swisslog Receives Award for Pharmacy Automation

Frost & Sullivan has identified the profound pharmacy automation services of Swisslog Healthcare Solutions and has declared it as the recipient of "2010 Best Practices Award".

The various parameters established by Frost & Sullivan include competitive intelligence, execution of competitive strategy, impact on market share, brand strength, customer satisfaction and it was reported that Swisslog had excelled in all these selection criteria.

The pharmacy automation solutions are provided by Swisslog’s PillPick and BoxPicker, which helps the pharmacy staff in a variety of activities like packing of drugs, distributing, storing etc. PillPick uses the latest bar-code technique for developing medications as per the patient’s requirement. BoxPicker is an automated storage system with dual-temperature feature which helps in storing and dispensing temperature responsive drugs that demand both refrigeration and storage at the room temperature within an automated storage unit.

Each automated system has an in-built inventory management software that assists in managing the medications from the storage room to the customer.

Pieter Feenstra, Head, Healthcare Solutions Europe, expressed his pleasure onr receiving this award. He stated that the major benefits of their pharmacy automation systems include minimum prescription mistakes, reduced cost overheads and less waiting time for the patients, thereby leading to enhanced patient safety, pharmacy efficiency and increased customer satisfaction.
