Swisslog, the leading hospital automation solutions provider in material handling and medication management, and Parata Systems, a leading provider of pharmacy technology solutions today announced their strategic partnership to offer a fully integrated outpatient pharmacy solution in the Middle East.
“Amidst the population growth and increased demand for healthcare services in the Middle East region, the need to streamline work processes to increase labor and cost efficiency is imperative,” states Stephan Sonderegger, Executive Vice President of Swisslog Healthcare Solutions, Asia Pacific. “Outpatient pharmacy automation significantly increases workflow efficiency while ensuring the highest possible level of patient safety. We are proud to have another strong technology partner in our portfolio to meet the growing demands in the outpatient pharmacy market.”
The addition of Parata Max® and Mini® completes the Swisslog solutions portfolio, focusing on the automating vial filling of oral solids in the outpatient pharmacy. Automation for pack, bottle, refrigerated and bulk medication labeling and dispensing is managed by the existing Swisslog portfolio of outpatient pharmacy products. Through the partnership with Parata, Swisslog now is able to provide a complete integrated outpatient pharmacy solution, automating all drug typologies dispensed in the pharmacy. Parata Max delivers the highest accuracy, speed and productivity for the lowest cost per prescription on the market. The robotics system labels, fills, caps, sorts and stores prescriptions.
“Together, Parata and Swisslog offer deeply integrated outpatient pharmacy solutions, to support hospital expansion into outpatient pharmacy services that address medication management across the continuum of patient care. Parata’s technology is a natural extension of Swisslog inpatient medication management solutions to the outpatient pharmacy,” explained Tom Rhoads, CEO, Parata Systems.
“We understand the individual requirements of each hospital’s operations. Increasing efficiency while enhancing patient experience is at the heart of what we do at Swisslog,” says Steven Leavengood, Managing Director of Swisslog Healthcare Solutions, Middle East. “With local project realization and integration competency, we offer best-in-class solutions and services to our customers.”
“Parata is excited to join with Swisslog to deliver our next-generation vial-filling robotics to health systems in the Middle East. The need to address medication management across the continuum of patient care is global. We’re working with healthcare systems, hospitals and their outpatient pharmacies to improve medication adherence and patient outcomes here at home and internationally,” said Jay Blandford, Parata EVP, Sales and Business Development.
The acute care outpatient pharmacy market in the Middle East and Asia is growing and Swisslog is committed to offer solutions to meet its demands. Last month, Swisslog launched its latest innovation, UniPick 2 Automated Drug Dispensing System, an automated pack and bottle dispensing solution that focuses on high-speed dispensing applications for outpatient pharmacies in China. Development plans to further expand its product portfolio to meet the different market requirements are underway; targeting to offer fully integrated solutions to outpatient pharmacies.
