Machine Vision MINI Smart Camera from Microscan Wins Global Technology Innovation Award

The Vision MINI smart camera from Microscan has been awarded the Global technology Award for fostering innovation in technology. The award belongs to the ID systems category awards and was presented on November 15 at the Productronica 2011, which was held in Germany.

The Vision MINI enjoys the distinction of being the smallest and fully integrated vision system in the world. The Vision MINI is extremely small in size and is suited for embedded identification and inspection applications.

The Global Technology Awards were started in the year 2005 and was established to recognise product excellence in the electronics surface mount assembly. The products that are recognised through these awards are champions in technological innovation and are judged by a panel of experts from the industry. Electronic manufacturers are dependent on machine vision for achieving accuracy in board assembly and cradle-to-grave traceability. The Vision MINI cameras and similar machine vision systems are capable of reading Data Matrix codes and also perform critical inspection tasks such as part location and component verification. Due to its ultra-compact size it is easy to position the camera in narrow locations. The camera comes with features such as integrated lighting, complete AutoVISION software tool set and an autofocus lens. It can be used in applications that demand wide angle optics for close-range.
