Lincoln Electric Releases Automated Welding Fume Extractors

Lincoln Electric has launched Mobiflex 200-M and 400-MS, ideal for extracting and filtering fumes during welding operations. These low-vacuum systems can be deployed in small production plants, where heavy duty fume extractors are not required.

The Mobiflex 200-M and 400-MS systems offer a liberal flow of air at the rate of 735 cubic feet per minute (CFM) by means of either a Lincoln LFA 4.1 or LFA 3.1 extraction arm featuring a minimum noise of 69 dBA during its operation. Mobility to the extractors is offered by means of rear wheels and front casters.

The major filter of the mobile extractor is made of either cellulose or cellulose/polyester. The cellulose/polyester filter can be utilized for welding applications involving high alloy or stainless steel. Every unit is included with an internal spark arrestor, which serves as a pre-filter for removing bulky particles.

The Mobiflex 200-M model features a filter status indicator, offering visual guidance to users regarding the outstanding filter life. The Mobiflex 400-MS model includes a self-cleaning mechanism for maintaining the condition of the filter. It can be either turned on automatically or manually by means of an exclusive switch included on the front control panel of the unit.

Various factors affecting the operation of the robotic system include proper utilization, maintenance and positioning of the device, explicit welding method and its specific application. User exposure level should be examined during installation and at regular intervals to confirm that the exposure does not exceed permissible exposure limits (PEL) and American Conference of Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH) Threshold Limit Values (TLV).
