Workhorse Group Granted FAA Exemption to Test HorseFly UAS

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has granted Workhorse Group Inc. Exemption No. 13564 (Regulatory Docket No. FAA-2015-3055) following the company's petition requesting Section 333 exemption to test its HorseFly™ unmanned aerial system (UAS), stating, in part "in consideration of the size, weight, speed, and limited operating area associated with the aircraft and its operation, the Secretary of Transportation has determined that this aircraft meets the conditions of Section 333…. [T]he UAS operation enabled by this exemption is in the public interest."

Disabled People Control Robot with Their Thoughts

Using a telepresence system developed at EPFL, 19 people – including nine quadriplegics – were able to remotely control a robot located in one of the university laboratories. This multi-year research project aims to give a measure of independence to paralysed people. This technology has shown that it works well and is easy to use.

At the Army Maneuver-Fires Integrated Experiment (MFIX) held at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, Northrop Grumman Corporation's (NYSE:NOC) Venom demonstrated the ability to identify and track small unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and to provide accurate targeting data while on the move. This targeting capability enabled other systems in the network to counter the UAS.
